14th Annual
Conference on Illinois History
October 11-12, 2012
Springfield, Illinois
The annual Conference on Illinois History is scheduled for October
11-12, 2012, at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in downtown
Springfield and is the state's largest meeting devoted to the history
of the Prairie State. This is the thirteenth year of the conference,
which is sponsored by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
The conference will feature topics that include
politics, architecture, community studies, Abraham Lincoln, African
American history, and the Civil War. Teachers will benefit from
workshops on a variety of topics. All teacher workshop sessions
are approved for Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs).
This year's Thursday luncheon speaker is Jacqueline
Hogan, author of Lincoln Inc.: Selling the Sixteenth President in
Contemporary America.
The keynote Thursday evening banquet speaker is Megan McKinney,
author of The Magnificent Medills: America’s Royal Family
of Journalism During a Century of Turbulent Splendor.
The Friday luncheon speaker is Gillum Ferguson,
author of Illinois in the War of 1812.
